Simply Cybill

  • 13 May 2009

As my previous post stated, I had a pretty shitty Monday. The cherry on top was the fact that I thought I opened at work and showed up at 9a.m, only to realize I actually closed. That, paired with my ballistic bitch customer, had me feeling very defeated when I finally got home that night. I stopped to grab my mail before I came in and amongst the bills and magazines was a peculiar-looking envelope. My name and address were hand-written and the return address was Studio City, CA. My heart jumped…I knew instantly what it was.

A few months ago I had written to my favorite childhood actress, Cybill Sheperd, and requested a new autographed pic of her. I actually had one when I was little (that had a personalized message for me on it) and to this day, I’m convinced it was stolen by a classmate of mine at my 9th birthday party. That same classmate got knocked up last year by a one night stand…take that, bitch! That’s karma’s way of telling you not to steal autographed pics of Cybill Sheperd!

I raced up to my apartment and carefully opened the envelope (my hands were trembling with excitement by this point) and there it was… my new autographed pic of the one and only Ms. Sheperd. No personal message and she’s not wearing the sassy strapless purple dress with zebra stripes from my first pic, but somehow, it’s enough.

To celebrate the gloriousness that is Cybill, I’m also re-running a post I wrote about “Moonlighting” back in March. Enjoy!

Who’s favorite childhood actress is Cybil Shepherd?? Moonlighting wasn’t for kids!

Sweeeeeeet. I suspect it’s already framed and properly hung on the wall? Just make sure to keep an eye on it when company comes to call. You can hire me to run security at your next shindig. Nobody’s gonna lay a hand on Maddie again!

wow, karma’s a bitch….if you get knocked up from a one night stand for petty theivery at age 9, I am scared to think of the possibilities for the future!! I am so glad you got your pic! I am fairly certain Cybill shit her pants in excitement when she got the request….I’m just saying….I doubt she’s overwhelmed with such mail these days!

    80’s reruns are the BEST.

LOVE that you had to get a new one to replace the stolen one. I hope the hole in your heart can begin to heal now (and i’m sure it doesn’t hurt that the bitch is knocked up either).

Brooke, I had no idea you were so big a fan or I would have made sure to write something more personal. If you tell me who stole the original photo, I will send my security goons over to slap her around a little. Getting knocked up by a stranger is not nearly punishment enough for violating your sacred trust and stealing something that I poured my heart into so many years ago. It’s fans like you that keep me going, even though the only work I get these days are cheesy Lifetime Network movies, and I’m not bitter about Bruce Willis becoming a huge superstar while I faded into oblivion. All my love, Cybill

oh, i dont know, colleen, she’s got quite a lot of lady fans now thanks to her character on Showtime’s L Word. i’m happy your request was granted, brooke amanda. i wrote to paula abdul when i was 12 because i, too, was somewhat obsessed with her (who wouldnt be obsessed with someone who could dance with a cartoon cat?). i never heard back. pill-popping bitch.

    Sean- Yeah! It was AWESOME!

Shawn- Who’s fave childhood actress WASN’T Cybill Sheperd?!

    Val- Your Hired!

Colleen- She has her own website and she’s made, like, 50 CD’s. Who knew she could act and sing?

Heather- I still want all the DVD’s.

Foxy- Thanks, I do feel whole again :)

Cybill- Thank you soooo much for reading my blog! If you must know, the girl who stole it was Leslie Olson. I’m not sure exactly where she’s living right now, but I can find out. Hold on while I call my mom…

Ryan- Paula probably can’t even write her own name, let alone write to someone else!
